Art Therapy:
Art is a uniquely helpful therapeutic medium for several reasons. Since there is no right or wrong answer, it grants‘permission’ to the child or adult, to express himself or herself, freely, without censorship. Every product is valued; every contribution is prized. Children only receive positive feedback for their artistic creations. When these are pasted on the wall or into books and sent home, the child is rewarded by the interest and pride of his or her parents.
What is more, art is a medium through which children can not only express themselves, but can work through their emotional and psychological conflicts. It is therefore the medium that has greatest impact, in working therapeutically with children of all levels of ability.
